Advisory Services

Advisory services are consultative projects requested by management or university leadership. They differ from audits in that they are typically forward-looking and solution-oriented, focusing on helping units design or improve processes rather than assessing past performance.

Common examples include:

  • Providing input on new or revised business processes, systems, or policies
  • Assessing internal controls in advance of system implementations or reorganizations
  • Facilitating risk assessments or control self-assessments
  • Advising committees or task forces on controls, accountability, and process efficiency
  • Offering guidance on governance, compliance, or risk management practices

Advisory services are conducted in accordance with the 2025 Global Internal Audit Standards, ensuring that Audit Services remains independent and objective. While we collaborate closely with our campus partners, we do not assume management responsibilities for the areas we review.
