As a Senior IT Auditor, Barry leads information technology audits across the University of Michigan, including Michigan Medicine, with a focus on cybersecurity, identity and access management (IAM), vendor risk management, and payment card industry (PCI) compliance. He has earned the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation and his work includes evaluating compliance with university data security policies and standards, as well as alignment with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity frameworks. Barry brings more than 30 years of institutional knowledge at U-M, having held leadership roles in academic affairs, the M-Pathways Project, Michigan Administrative Information Services (MAIS), and Information and Technology Services (ITS). Since joining Audit Services, his work has spanned central IT — including ITS and Michigan Medicine’s Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) — as well as schools, colleges, and administrative units across the university, leveraging data analytics and artificial intelligence to strengthen audit findings and insights. Barry holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan.
